We are a growing hardware design and development team in the area of biometric devices. Majority of our biometric devices rely on optical sensing and so strong competence in optics is paramount for us.

To expand our multidisciplinary hardware engineering team, we are seeking an experienced optical designer who would bring optical design expertise to our Prague location.

You would be involved in development of fine optics for new biometric devices like fingerprint readers, face or iris scanner and many other devices of this kind as well as reviewing and consulting updates and upgrades of existing devices to make them more robust, improve their reliability or implement brand new features.

This is a unique opportunity to show your technical, development and mentoring skills as you will be responsible for the whole lifecycle of design and development.

Your strong technical foundations in optics and oversight to close disciplines helps get the device from its concept stages up to the production.

As our Optical Systems Principal Design Engineer, you’ll support success by :

Developing and designing of optical structures for biometric identification systems

Analysing and specifising of production tolerances

Communicating with the customers or suppliers about technical specifications on global scale

Providing technical and expert support, contribution to project planning

Collaborating with electrical, mechanical and software development teams (measurement methods development, programming, optical, electrical and mechanical design)

Cooperating on product development as well as research projects

Cooperating / supporting for industrialization and manufacturing engineering when bringing design to production

Liaising with and supervise external suppliers on technical subjects

Advising and expert level support to test engineer

Optimizing and troubleshooting of existing performance test, validation and production processes

Helping troubleshoot optical issues in manufacturing process

Your Experience and Education includes :

Bachelor or Master degree in applied physics / optical design or relevant discipline(optics, mechanical engineering, precision mechanics)

Knowledge of geometrical optics and physics

Knowledge of optical design software Zemax and its macro language

Working experience of usual optical sensors (CMOS, CCD, etc.)

Experience with semiconductor illumination (LED, laser diodes)

Expert advisory to other team members, ability to liaise technical matters with other teams, customer and subcontractors

Strong communication skills, fluent in English written and spoken

Ability to preset technical results in front of audience
