Who are we looking for ?
A Medical Affairs Manager who will drive our medical strategy for Vaccines therapeutical area. It is an exciting time at MSD where we bring new products to market and you will play a significant part in ensuring launch success and scientific education in the internal / external communities.
The Medical Affairs Manager is a key scientific expert for providing high level scientific support for internal and external customers in the Vaccines domain.
You ensure the scientific credibility of all the information provided by the company. You will supports the products as a Brand of Choice through medical communications, scientific support for promotional activities and other related medical activities including studies, training, medical information.
In your Medical Advisor role you are seen as a valued co-strategist on cross-functional country teams, including Regulatory Affairs, Market Access, Marketing and other functions.
As you will focus on launch products we want someone who is excited by the prospect of developing new external networks and representing the science to medical professionals either one to one or in symposia / conferences.
The selected Professional :
Is responsible (either alone or in collaboration with the MSL) to develop and follow up a scientific leader (SL) engagement plan.
Develops, maintains and extends (long-term) contacts with national experts (scientific leaders) and medical professionals in the therapeutic areas assigned.
Acts as medical ambassador for the company, externally and internally (relations with clinical research and other relevant departments).
Is recognized as the scientific expert in the product and therapeutic areas assigned by acting as speaker and / or discussant in external meetings
Medical functional expertise
Builds and maintains expertise and knowledge of scientific gaps on the product(s) and therapy area(s) assigned.
Builds and maintains expertise on relevant areas such as rules and regulations on promotional materials.
Works closely with the clinical research department and the Medical Scientific Liaison to identify potential investigators for participation in MRL studies.
Monitors the progress / milestones of investigator initiated trials and other local non- MRL studies.
Delivers presentations to scientific leaders or decision makers including, but not limited to formulary presentations.
Ensures 100% compliance with all applicable SOPs / GDPs, local and international rules and regulations.
If relevant, provides coaching and support of the MSL colleague on the therapeutic area and product knowledge.
Strategic Medical Support
Draws up and implements the country medical affairs plan and the SL engagement plan for the relevant product(s) and franchise, in line with the global MAP and the RDMA guidelines.
Identifies the scientific issues and gaps to be covered to support the relevant product(s) as brand of choice by the different customers and to ensure correct use of the product(s).
Gives medical input into the business plans, market access strategies, uptake of MSD products in guidelines, promotional materials and the selection of the most recent / appropriate claims, arguments, references to be used.
Leads the LCE activities : gives medical input into the design of local or multi-country non-registration studies. This includes leading the internal medical approval procedure via the defined process and leading the selection of investigators.
Tactical medical support
Includes but is not limited to collaboration with relevant functions, to provide the appropriate leadership in developing and / or the medical review and approval of promotional materials.
Provides input on / drafts local publications / abstracts / reports / medical reviews and, if applicable, medical training materials.
Collaborates with Medical Services in the review of promotional materials and provides accurate and up-to-date medical information as needed.
Reviews expert reports to support reimbursement or formulary listing processes and is involved in the development of value packs.
Evaluates scientific value of projects for which support is requested from the company.
Makes fair market analysis of amounts paid to HCPs.
Develops materials for additional Risk Management Programs or DHPC’s if relevant and ensures implementation and training.
Develops and implements Compassionate Use Programs or Medical Need Programs.
Delivers training to relevant internal (Sales, Marketing) and external stakeholders to ensure that the required level of medical background on the company’s product(s) is attained.
Ensures additional training as required (continuous education) that is planned and implemented.
Education & Experience
MD / Physician qualification is essential
We consider candidates coming from the pharma industry OR candidates with a background working in a hostpital environment interested in stepping into a corporate environment.
Affinity with marketing & sales, knowledge about market access is a plus
Experience in Vaccinology is a benefit but not essential
