  • they are also developers who design, automate, and find creative ways to solve potential problems. The Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Toolchain Quality Engineering team is looking for a Quality Engineer to join us.

    In this role, you’ll work with a wide variety of development tools including the GNU Compiler Collection (GCC), C and C++ standard libraries (glibc, libstdc++), LLVM, Rust, Golang, Eclipse, debuggers (GDB, LLDB), performance tools, system tracers, and C code sanitizers.

    You'll help to test these tools, develop their test automation, and perform key validation and verification before new code is released to customers with a focus on the automotive industry.

    You’ll have the opportunity to be a part of a small team working closely with influential Linux toolchain projects, open source communities and subject matter experts.

    The preferred work location for this position is Brno, Czech Republic. Other locations, as well as home based remote candidates will be considered.

    Primary job responsibilities

  • Improve quality of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL)
  • Identify and report issues that have impact on functionality, security, or interoperability
  • Closely collaborate with developers to investigate and debug issues
  • Propose and test fixes in components under test
  • Develop test automation
  • Collaborate on development of community, and open source projects
  • Required skills

  • Ability to read, debug, and fix C code
  • Experience scripting in python and shell
  • Basic Linux admin skills
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Basic knowledge of testing techniques and approaches
  • Flexible and open to learning new things, creative, and reliable
  • Ability to coordinate and prioritize multiple tasks
  • High standard of communication and professional behavior
  • Ability to work without close supervision and to explore a task using your own initiative within a provided brief
  • The following are considered a plus :

  • Ability to read, debug, and fix C++ code
  • Basic understanding of assembly
