Purpose

The General Ledger Accountant is responsible for completing a range of financial activities and tasks resulting in the presentation of financial and management reports.

These activities may include analytical support to management and delivering key analysis of the financial and operational performance on a continuous basis and the review and interpretation of transactions and events in order to assist the business in making sound commercial and economic decisions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complex General ledger activities including :
  • Salaries, cash forecasting, P&L analysis
  • Prepayments (collecting and reviewing back and maintaining release schedule)
  • P&L trend analysis and calculating and booking accruals for missing supplier invoices
  • VAT, WHT data preparation and cooperation with local Compliance partner on filing
  • Bank accounting and reconciliation
  • Other GL transactions
  • Monthly reconciliation / analysis of Balance sheet accounts assigned to General ledger team (including follow-up regarding reconciling items)
  • Assist in the preparation of month-end, quarter-end, and year-end reporting for areas of responsibility including delivering explanations on all balances and ensure follow up on outstanding balances taking corrective action in the following month
  • Prepare information required for external audit and internal audit
  • Ensure information provided is in compliance with group accounting policies and procedures and internal control guidelines
  • Complete activities relating to process improvements and departmental project initiatives
  • Close cooperation with other Finance teams within Finance centre and other non Finance departments
  • Qualifications

    Education & Qualifications

  • University Degree in Accounting or equivalent, or Higher College education in Business studies
  • Minimum Level B English in speaking and written communication
  • Experience

  • 2-4 years’ work experience in an accounting environment in General ledger area (complex accounting)
  • Experience of working in a Shared Service Centre would be an advantage
  • Knowledge & Skills

  • Analytical capabilities;
  • Work towards tight deadlines, identify priorities whilst remaining flexible;
  • Ability to multi-task and manage pressure;
  • Good communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external customers at all levels;
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English; other languages are beneficial,
  • Demonstrate PC proficiency (MS Excel pivot tables, formula, etc.);
  • Working knowledge of Oracle would be an advantage
