LEAD SYSTEM ARCHITECT, CONNECTIVITY PRAGUE, CZECH REPUBLIC

Electrolux Global Connectivity & Technology (GC&T) organization is looking to strengthen its international team committed to deliver the architecture for the Group’s growing portfolio of connected products.

The Lead System Architect position is open within the Global Connectivity Architecture team and reports directly to the Global Connectivity Architect.

The overall scope of the positon is to support definition and implementation of the overall Connectivity Architecture Strategy.

The Lead System Architect designs and implements connectivity systems and software, to support the deployment of connected appliances globally.

He / she ensures that all systems are working at optimal levels and supports development of new technologies and system requirements.

This includes proper strategic management of connectivity system complexity, considering the long-lasting presence of products on the market (minimum 10 years), adequate cyber-

security, and peculiarities of the IoT model. Monitoring and integration of new emerging technologies - embedded, networked or cloud based -

is another key element of this role. The Lead System Architect will provide technical leadership to a team of engineers architecting and developing innovative systems for connected consumer appliances, as well as will help manage research activities carried out with Universities within the area of Connectivity Architecture.

The position interfaces to the various functions of GC&T (Global Connectivity Development, Global Quality Assurance, Global Electronics Development, Strategy and Innovation, Project Management Organization, etc), IT and relevant group Sectors (Major Appliances and Small Appliances).

It is a global, strategic role, with the goal of ensuring technical competitive advantage of Electrolux connected products, services and systems.

Analyze System Requirements :

  • The Lead System Architect analyzes existing systems and software to ensure they offer adequate security, robustness and flexibility and are effectively meeting the needs of the organization.
  • He / she coordinates with all areas of the organization to see that the system is working optimally.

  • The Lead System Architect has a fundamental role in enabling proper modularity practices and rules to enable component re-
  • use across Product Lines thanks to a long-term and cross-functional perspective on Connectivity Architecture.

    Recommend Alternative Technologies and Improvements :

  • Based on his / her knowledge of IT trends, FW / SW development process and System / SW architecture, the Lead System Architect recommends alternative technologies or improvements to enhance Electrolux connectivity systems and processes.
  • Maintains awareness of technology trends and novel solutions in relevant connectivity areas and proactively suggests their integration into Electrolux connectivity solutions and platforms.
  • Lead Design and Review of New Systems :

  • Leads the design and review processes for new systems, actively engages in implementation where appropriate. Develops and documents the proposed technical design for the integration and implementation of any new component, working across GC&T Connectivity Development, Quality Assurance, IT, Electronics and Product Lines Teams.
  • Assures application of design rules (modularity, scalability, robustness, extensibility, interoperability, simplicity, ) and best practices of SW development process and Agile methodology during Project lifetime.
  • Plan for component implementation and integration :

  • Defines, validates and evangelizes long-term rules and configuration tools and practices for interfaces and interoperability across connectivity components and product portfolio.
  • Supports creation of detailed plans for integrating new systems into existing infrastructure, working in close collaboration with Project Manager and other GC&T and IT functions.
  • This includes plans for the executing functions to conduct the physical integration, during which the Lead System Architect provides technical direction and support.

  • Helps troubleshoot complex system problems spanning entire connectivity architecture.
  • Tools, Processes, Standardization :

  • Ensures Connectivity component design and architecture information is well documented, up-to-date and communicated to the relevant stakeholders.
  • Ensures that proper tools are adopted, that adequate design, development, testing and documentation methodology is used within relevant projects, and that sound processes are followed.
  • Leads proper process and methodology definition and implementation, as appropriate.

  • Represents Electrolux in relevant standardization bodies (such as Open Connectivity Foundation) where appropriate, executes Electrolux strategy in the definition of these upcoming IoT standards and ensures interoperability and compliance of Electrolux connectivity solutions.
  • Helps build and maintain internal- and external networks (e.g. with sectors, suppliers, partner institutes, universities) and helps drive the relationship with the Czech Technical University in Prague in the area of Connectivity Architecture.

    Willing to travel and to stay at different Electrolux sites when required

    Required languages :

    Solid English, spoken and written, is mandatory for this role.

    Knowledge of Italian, Swedish or Russian is a plus.

    Academic Background :

    PhD (preferred) or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Electronic Engineering, or related.

    Professional Experience :

    Experience in Architecture leadership role.

    10+ years of experience in Systems / SW development desirable.

    Experience from a complex international organization is highly desirable.

    Technical skills :

    Deep, detailed experience in architecting and implementing multi-component networked systems, and their interaction

    Expert knowledge in design, architecture and algorithms for distributed systems

    Expert understanding of key architecture concepts such as modularity, scalability, robustness, is mandatory

    Detailed knowledge of several operating systems (Linux, Unix, Windows, Android, iOS, RTOS)

    Expert knowledge in C / C++ and / or Java language programming, Swift highly beneficial

    Experience with connectivity technologies and building architecture roadmaps

    Knowledge and experience in cloud computing platforms, cloud API design and big data analytics

    Knowledge in IoT concepts and technologies

    Knowledge of Appliance FW architecture and related impacted areas (complexity management, safety, factory testing, OTA update, remote maintenance, service operations, relevant standards and norms in this area)

    Knowledge and experience in computer networks, TCP / IP protocols and wireless / mobile networking

    Knowledge in software and networking security

    Knowledge of testing and monitoring methodologies

    Knowledge of software development process and version management systems

    Experience in standardization or IP-protection processes is a plus
