Job Profile

We're looking for a proactive and positive legal counsel to join our Prague offices to work directly with our Czech business and also with our central legal team in Croydon.

Our group legal department is a dedicated in-house team of employees based at our head office in Croydon, UK and other offices in the UK, Singapore, USA, Australia and the Middle East.

This team is responsible for providing legal services and advice on all matters associated with Mott MacDonald's activities globally and their services include corporate transactions, company formations, contract reviews, contractual and construction law advice, disputes, insurance claims and ad hoc legal advice.

Job Description

Since you'll be working closely with colleagues from a range of backgrounds and experience the role is likely to shape a solid industry career for you in an exciting and innovative company.

The legal counsel will be required to help manage all legal and commercial matters affecting the business of Mott MacDonald and its affiliated companies.

Specifically the role will be responsible for :

  • Providing internal legal advice and assistance with technical legal queries
  • Reviewing and drafting documentation and assessing legal implications
  • Driving general and legal compliance initiatives and contributing to related corporate, legal and commercial

    Candidate Specification

    This role would suit a newly qualified solicitor or barrister with some relevant PQE with practical experience of construction law gained in a consultancy environment or working with a client / contractor.

    You will need to have a genuine desire to contribute to an ambitious company and in return you will have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of legal disciplines including mergers and acquisitions, company law, contract reviews, construction law advice, disputes, claims and insurance.

    The ability to add value to an organisation by providing sound and commercially focused advice along with strong communication skills is also essential for this position.

    Previous experience working in-house and within an engineering consultancy is highly desirable.

    Essential knowledge, experience and education :

  • A degree in Law and qualified as a solicitor or barrister
  • Good practical experience of the application of legal principles and construction law in a consultancy environment or with a client / contractor
  • High level of analytical skills and excellent knowledge of legal issues
  • Fluency in Czech and English languages to a legal drafting level
  • Essential skills :

  • Commercial and pragmatic approach
  • Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders, both verbally and in writing
  • Confidence to work autonomously
  • Ability to balance the commercial demands of the business against any legal and regulatory risks.
  • Desirable knowledge, experience and education :

    Experience working within an engineering / construction consultancy.
