We service the Compliance and Financial Crime Functions within Barclays. We are a global team of c600 colleagues situated in the major location hubs : London, New York, New Jersey, Pune and Mumbai.

Overall purpose of roleWorking as part of the regional Compliance Technology Run-the-Bank (RTB) Level 2 support team, this role is responsible for the continual support and maintenance of the technology Applications used by the global Compliance Business.

The role will require working with other L2 support analysts, both in the region & as part of our global team and will have reporting lines to the Regional RTB Lead and the L2 Lead.

This role requires excellent communication, handling and resolution of various technical issues for a subset of our applications during regional hours.

The role will also help to drive key initiatives and improvements and ensure adherence to the RTB Governance Framework. This will include working with Build-

the-Bank (BTB or L3) teams and business stakeholders, incident / change / problem management, and engaging project teams to facilitate the release management process.

Knowledge management, sharing and retention will be a key function of the role and the individual will be expected to work with our Infrastructure Risk & Control and Service Management teams to help deliver common initiatives such as BICEP and Technical Debt remediation. Key Accountabilities

  • Perform incident and problem management activities, including working closely with technology and business stakeholders to provide innovative and tactical solutions to issues as well as improving the performance of our Applications and processes;
  • this will include managing major incidents, performing post incident reviews and coordinating with our various 3rd party suppliers

  • Plan execution timelines / activities of various major releases and critical changes into Production and DR environments in collaboration with our development and technology support teams;
  • this will include creating & managing change requests in accordance with Barclays Change Management standards

  • Independently identify repetitive or time consuming processes that can be automated, especially where they benefit multiple business areas, and deliver a sustainable solution that can be leveraged for other areas as needed.
  • Creation of required knowledge base documentation required to support applications, including appropriate sign-off where required
  • Coordination of various support activities across the global team, including handover of issues, knowledge sharing, training and collaboration on strategic projects
  • Off-hours on-call support will be required for this role on a rotational basis Stakeholder Management and Leadership
  • Work closely with our teams across Compliance Technology (including RTB & BTB colleagues) to provide best in class support of our applications
  • Coordination with various support, business and development teams in ensuring requirements are scoped correctly as per bank’s Change / Incident / Problem / Resilience standards.
  • Provide input to training plans and develop training materials for RTB led training. Work with BTB contacts to develop deeper training sessions for BTB led training.
  • Identify where there are technology gaps that may need to be addressed through in house technology training opportunities or external providers, if necessary.

  • Take full responsibility for ensuring adherence to the RTB KPIs, adapt procedures as appropriate, implement personal performance metrics to demonstrate adherence of team members to the procedures, perform spot checks on quality of data for each discipline.

  • Has excellent investigative and analytical skill, able to quickly identify the core issues in order to improve and fix services and processes.
  • Is able to assess risks and impacts and make logic based decisions within own scope, to apply changes and improvements to services, processes and the prioritisation of application support team.

  • Understands when decisions and actions will have an impact on the cost, risk and behavioural profiles of systems and processes, and when to escalate such impacts to business owners for agreement.
  • Must be able to demonstrate advanced and creative use of MS PowerPoint and MS Excel
  • Excellent oral and written communication in both formal and informal settings, and at all levels of seniority

  • Person SpecificationBasic Qualifications / Skills : Non-Technical

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • 5 years’ experience working within a support function & ITIL Environment.
  • 5 years’ experience of Financial Services and Banking, with core knowledge of either Retail or Investment banking.
  • 3 years’ experience working as part of a project delivery team in either a Waterfall or Agile SDLC (Software Delivery Lifecycle) model. Technical
  • Minimum 5 years’ knowledge of working on UNIX environment with exposure to one or more well-known UNIX flavours such as IBM AIX, HP-
  • UX, Sun Solaris and / or Linux.

  • 3 years’ experience of working with a Windows based operating system.
  • 5 years’ experience of working with databases such as Oracle or MS-SQL including fine tuning SQL queries, advanced investigation skills for performance issues and database profiling.
  • 3 years’ experience of job scheduling, batch jobs etc and has exposure to one or more of scheduling tools.
  • 3 years’ experience working under a DevOps model, with hands-on experience operating and developing various automation tools such as Nolio or Chef.
  • Preferred Qualifications / Skills :

  • ITIL certified.
  • 3 years’ working experience of Compliance and Anti-Financial Crime within the regulated sector, or an equivalent support function.
  • Is aware of one or more Oracle related utilities such as SQLPLUS, sqlldr, utl file and has exposure to working to different DB client tools such as TOAD.
  • Is aware of Performance tuning concepts such as explain plan, query optimization, table scans etc.
  • Exposure to Data Mining and Big Data Analytical tools, such as Hadoop, is favourable
  • Keeps abreast of industry trends and marketplace experiences
