Department Description: SaaS Cloud Operations is responsible for the configuration, deployment and operation of Oracle's Cloud Solutions. The team is responsible for the 24/7 operations of Oracle Taleo product suites, around the world. Job Purpose: Seeking a Cloud Operations Database Administrator Automation Engineer for Oracle Taleo Business Edition production operations. High scale Human Capital Management System (HCM) focused on enterprise and small to medium business. We are looking for a strong technical individual to join us in the design and implementation of world class processes, automation and help us build highly scalable solutions.Responsibilities:•Drive SaaS operations including performance management, implementation of SLAs. •Participate in the design and realization of tools and automation for a Dev Ops inspired back end management and monitoring system.•Work with Oracle Databases, Linux, Apache and data center operations.•Collaborate with Development staff and Application Architects to automate new features and functionality.•Work with application teams to automate application setup, deployment and configurations.•Provide technical solutions to automate processes or functions to improve business operations.•Review of incidents data and make recommendations for preventative measures.•Work with Development teams to identify trends in application defects.•Make presentations within Cloud Operations and to cross functional teams.•Continually monitor and tune application infrastructure to assure optimal performance, availability and utilization of resources.•Engineer and deploy releases, enhancements, and upgrades or new applications throughout non production and production environments.•Maintain thorough knowledge of application design, engineering principles and applications within team's portfolio. Skills/Qualifications:•Extensive work experience with Oracle databases, preferably in a RAC environment. Knowledge of Oracle 12c DB and Exadata would be a plus.•Solid SRE, automation and software development experience, with proficiency in one of more coding language (Java, Python, Ruby, C/C++, PL/SQL, etc.).•Experience working in a DevOps environment.•5+ years of strong experience as web/application administration engineer with expertise in supporting Linux.•3+ years experience with deploying web applications to a Linux environment.•3+ years experience with Linux based scripting.•Experience in using different testing tools, scripting, configuration management such as Puppet / Chef and automation skills.•A strong team player, self-motivated, self-starter and with a great get it done and do it right work attitude.•Effective written and oral communication skills (must be able to articulate technical designs, strategies and problems to management).•Strong technical background in industry standard infrastructure and application stacks.•Experience documenting and inventorying new and existing processes and architecture.•As a 24x7x365 organization, shift work, holidays, weekends and oncall responsibilities may be required.•Experience with SaaS Operations, CloudOperations.•Ability to work in a high pressure, fastpaced, high growth environment.•Ability to plan and execute projects with minimal oversight.•Experience designing and implementing load balancing and high availability architectures.•Strong experience in IT related systems implementation, operations, and support.•Keen understanding of various disciplines and technologies such as Web, directory services, directory synchronization, web application security, databases, networking, infrastructure, and application development is the key to this position.•Good experience with virtualization and container technologies as OVM, VMWare and Docker.•Expertise in supporting web applications based on Linux / Java based platform.•Strong experience and knowledge of Apache Web Server and Java.•Thorough understanding of monitoring systems, monitoring methodologies and oncall processes/procedures.•Strong understanding of application architecture design and implementation.•Experience with Linux (Oracle Linux, CentOS, RHEL) and Microsoft Windows servers.•Working knowledge of other database platforms such as MS SQL Server, My SQL desirable.•Background in software engineering, service and support is a plus.
Detailed Description and Job Requirements
Work with a world class team to provide enterprise-wide, Oracle Database Administration support for production systems and provide DBA services to application development teams, including database design, database generation, coding, and database production support. Provide DBA support with a high degree of customer service, technical expertise, and timeliness. Provide accurate and creative solutions to user problems of moderate nature to ensure user productivity.
As a Senior Database Administrator, you are instrumental in researching, evaluating, designing, testing, recommending, and planning implementation of new versions of Oracle database and database tools. May act as a team lead during database implementations and for system operation and maintenance.
Leading contributor individually and as a team member, providing direction and mentoring to others. Work is non-routine and very complex, involving the application of advanced technical/business skills in area of specialization. 8 years of experience supporting relational databases as a DBA, with multiple distributed relational DBSM*s or a depth and focus in Oracle and related tools. Success at using the DBMS to optimize performance of large databases for enterprise use is greatly preferred. Experience with an organization with a key 24 X 7 reliance on its database is desirable. BS or equivalent desired.
