Job DescriptionThe PositionThe Engineer Operations NPI defines factory and service requirements for new products and contributes to the product and process improvements after release.
The NPI engineer understands the importance of customer satisfaction, and succeeds through dedication, enthusiasm, cooperation, technical expertise and working with a network of expert people within Thermo Fisher Scientific.Detailed Deliverables :
Work on New Product Introduction (NPI) projects as they transition from concept through release according to PMP, MDP, MDM process.
The NPI Engineer is responsible for completing all NPI deliverables assigned to NPI Engineering. Sets up training and coordinates / trains Manufacturing, Sustaining Products and Service personnel in new product build, test, install and repair procedures.
May develop advanced troubleshooting procedures. May execute advanced troubleshooting in factory or field service. May provide input or execute engineering changes to support factory and service as needed.
Supports factory and field service engineers with first builds, installs and upgrades of newly introduced systems and modules to ensure proper working order.
This may require travel to various customer locations worldwide to support installations and upgrades.
Gives input for ongoing training for factory and field service engineers. May execute troubleshooting in factory or field service May provide input or execute engineering changes to support factory and service as needed.General Deliverables :
Facilitates and may lead cross-functional improvement and other Operations projects from inception to completion. Acts as an advisor to peers and project resources to meet schedules and / or resolve technical problems.
Develop close relationships with Manufacturing, Logistics, Sourcing, NPI Engineering, TSS, PLM, Quality and R&D to adequately resolve technical conflicts.
Ensure that activities are carried out according to the principle of Customer focus in all that we do Adhere to work safety, fire safety, hygiene of work and other regulatory standards.
Clean and maintain work area and consigned tools Execute all activities according to Sarbanes-Oxley directives, rules and procedures Other duties as assigned The Requirements General requirements :
University degree in a technical discipline, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the required skills Willingness to work in high-
tech industry manufacturing environment Must demonstrate ability to create technical documentation and engineering reports using common Microsoft Office and Acrobat applications Demonstrated ability to plan and resolve issues that involve gaining cooperation of cross-
functional, multi-cultural groups and sites without damaging relationships. Must be able to work for extended period in clean room environment Must have ability to obtain a valid passport and travel regionally and internationally as required (up to 25% of working time) Fluent in English and local language (verbal and in writing) Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills Specific requirements :
Typically 2 -7 years of technical experience in high-tech industry environment in service, development or manufacturing Demonstrated experience participating or managing concurrent technical projects Senior knowledge in a specialized technical field Demonstrated experience with process improvements and methods.
Experience with use of statistical process control and statistical problem solving methods, including Six-Sigma methods, is preferred Demonstrated ability to provide clear and concise analysis of data and experimental methods that may involve multiple factors Self-
starter who is also highly productive when not supervised to meet the agreed objectives Must function as a productive team member at all time Must be able to plan and resolve issues that involve gaining cooperation of multiple cross-
