Job Summary :

Novartis is currently searching for a Category Manager- Warehouse & Distribution to join the Procurement team in Prague.

Job Purpose :

The candidate supports (CCM) to plan and leads category initiatives at a country level for sites and Country Category Organizations.

They support CCM to execute the Category management strategy and process including leading proactive sourcing projects, specification definition and demand management activities, as well as managing Country Category-

specific tactical and transactional procurement activities not limited to soliciting proposal, quotes, performing end to end contract management, coordinating performance warranties and resolving suppliers related issues within the region and cluster.

He / she ensures the delivery of measurable value for Novartis, through alignment of business requirements, sourcing expertise, supplier market intelligence, financial productivity and mitigation of risk to ensure maximum value and compliance to legal..

Key Responsibilities :

  • Supports to execute Global Category Strategies within the region or cluster and for communication and distribution of any Country Category specific strategies to the relevant stakeholders
  • Supports the delivery of country category savings targets through collaboration and engagement with global procurement team / Sites / Clusters and country organisations
  • Accountable for making sure we execute the project plan to ensure the projects agreed are achieved in line with the targeted goals and that the identified savings are delivered each year
  • Support for managing the preferred supplier pool, incl. creating and monitoring SLAs, conducting regular performance reviews, serving as escalation point and remediating potential issues
  • Maintain strong communication with procurement team / Sites / Clusters and country organisations
  • Responsible for developing and performing ad hoc RFx; analyzing data, making data driven recommendations for selected suppliers, and developing preferred contract language with new suppliers or renegotiating existing contracts in accordance with Novartis contract guidelines.
  • Supports the collection of supplier, market, category and internal business data and information or the sub-category
  • Responsible PO and SIM management and driving of supplier reductions in region to achieve the global targets
  • Accountable for proactively escalating any known risks or issues to the Global Category Team and / or local management to ensure required support for resolution
  • Supports Inputs into the overall category segmentation and identification of key supplier relationships
  • Supports the implementation of consistent supplier facing KPIs based on the Novartis Supplier Performance & Innovation Framework
  • Accountable for ensuring that all associates involved in operational buying activities have access to and an understanding of the relevant Category cards
  • Accountable for ensuring negotiated contracts are clearly communicated for the category area and ensuring they are consistently applied and stored in the agreed repository for all relevant parties to access. Example CLM
  • Responsible for ensuring that a proactive contract management program is in place to support timely renewal / tendering prior to contract expiry
  • Responsible for monitoring compliance and adherence to the applicable Novartis Procurement policies and procedures
  • Responsible for timely sharing of key country-related material with the Global Category team

    Minimum requirements

    The ideal candidate will have :

  • Bachelor’s degree required at a minimum, Master’s degree preferred, in fields such as business administration, finance,.
  • CIPS or similar qualification desirable.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in English, German would be a plus.
  • Minimum 3 years in similar or equivalent positions in a regional / country environment in an equivalent position.
  • Good understanding of operations and business culture of multinational company.
  • Experience in Procurement Processes, Systems & Compliance Management
  • Experience with sourcing, negotiation and contracting
  • Experience in supporting clients directly
  • Strong sense for independence and self drive.
  • Technically knowledgeable and warehousing and distribution buying experience a high advantage
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills,
  • Experience with implementing and perfecting new processes
  • Experience with compliance / audit area or anti-bribery legislation big advantage
  • Curious mind and high motivation to learn
